What services are available through IHSS?

If your child is on the Children’s Home and Community-Based Services Waiver (CHCBS), you can receive the pediatric Health Maintenance Activities benefit. Health Maintenance Activities are defined as: routine and repetitive skilled health related tasks, which are necessary for health and normal bodily functioning, that an individual with a disability would carry out if they were physically able, or that would be carried out by a family member or friends if they were available. Under IHSS, the Nurse Practice Act has been waived which allows you to appoint an attendant even if they don’t have the specific certifications or licensure normally required under the CHCBS waiver.

How do I know if my child qualifies for IHSS?

In-Home Support Services are a Health First Colorado (Medicaid) benefit available on the following waivers: Children’s Home and Community Based Services Waiver (CHCBS); Elderly, Blind, and Disabled Waiver (EBD); and the Spinal Cord Injury Waiver (SCI). A Circle of Care specializes in serving pediatric patients on the CHCBS waiver.
